Billboard – Katy Perry has finally knocked Eminem out of the number one spot on the Billboard charts with her new album.

It was assumed that her sophomore CD “Teenage Dream”, would perform well based on the success of her singles. She was able to push a total of 192,000 copies, outselling the releases by Fantasia Barrino and knocking Eminem out of the top spot that he has owned for over a month.

Fantasia Barrino was able to sell 117,000 copies, while Eminem was able to add 98,000 to his total, falling to the third spot on the list this week. It has been ten weeks since he released his album and he has remained at the top spot since his release. Katy Perry becomes the first solo female act to achieve the top spot since Ke$ha released her album, “Animal” earlier in the year.

Katy Perry also has the top digital track. Her first single sold an additional 259,000 downloads online this week. In a disappointing effort, Usher premiered at fourth on the charts. He was attempting to recreate the buzz that he had earlier in the decade, but has been unsuccessful at garnering interest.
Little Big Town’s “The Reason Why” followed Usher, landing in the fifth spot. It will be interesting to see how long Katy Perry is able to dominate the top of the charts. With another Eminem single on the way, he could make another push upwards unless Usher manages by some miracle to bounce back.

CMA Awards 2010 – The CMA Awards 2010 nominees is finally out.

The CMA Awards 2010 nominations were announced this morning on Good Morning America/GMA by Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley.

Lambert was nominated for nine categories, making her the most nominated female ever at the CMAs. The show will be hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley which will air on November 10th at 8pm on ABC. Here are the CMA Awards 2010 nominees announced today:

Mariah Carey — Mariah Carey’s upcoming holiday project will be called Merry Christmas II You.

The II represents the follow-up to 1994’s multi-platinum Merry Christmas album, which spawned the now-classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The new offering is scheduled for a November 2 release and will include original material as well as covers of holiday classics.

An accompanying DVD will also be released the same day, but there are currently no details on what exactly it will contain. The packaging was shot in the spring by famed photographer David LaChapelle and features a festive setting with fake snow, tinsel, and wooden reindeers.

I personally can’t wait for this Album, I had David Archuleta’s album last year, and now this. I’m waiting… for now Ill just play free online games. Haha!

MTV VMA 2010 — Eminem joins the MTV VMA 2010 performers’ bandwagon.

Eminem joins an already star-packed roster of performers that includes Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Drake, B.o.B, and Florence and the Machine, as well as in-house DJ Deadmau5 and host Chelsea Handler.

The list of presenters already includes Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, Emma Stone, Penn Badgley, Trey Songz, Ashley Greene, Selena Gomez and Ne-Yo.

MTV — Chelsea Handler promised fireworks when she hosts MTV’s Sept. 12 VMA Awards, but who knew she would light the fuse so quickly?

Speaking to Ryan Seacrest on his KISS-FM radio show Thursday, Handler previewed her emceeing technique and said she hoped to reunite two strange bedfellows: Kanye West and Taylor Swift.

Last year, West interrupted Swift’s big acceptance speech – in a moment that was buzzed about long after.

“I’d like to get them together,” Handler, 35, told Seacrest. “We’ve never really seen them together since then. They were supposed to be together on SNL, but then that didn’t end up happening.”

Last year, Swift had no sooner won the best female video award when she was cut off during her acceptance speech by the rapper, who grabbed her microphone and announced that fellow nominee Beyoncé had “one of the greatest videos of all time,” in for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).” West later apologized. Profusely.

As Swift recalled after the big moment, “I was standing on stage and I was really excited because I’d just won the award and then I was really excited because Kanye West was on stage. And then I wasn’t excited anymore after that.”

Suggested Handler: “We’ll try to think of something clever to do with them, because that would be really fun.”

Billboard / Beyonce’ – Billboard has decided to honor Beyonce by officially giving her the title of “The Indisputable Queen Of Pop.”

The organization has recognized the singer’s immense talent in a short video that was posted on Youtube which has created an uproar.

While many will agree that Beyonce should be awarded an exceptional tribute by Billboard for her acting abilities, effortless talent, being a fashion icon, and being the hardest working woman in the industry, others are very upset and are taking their anger to various social networks saying that Madonna, Britney Spears or even new comer Lady Gaga are more deserving of the prestigious title.

Is Beyonce the queen of Pop,or do you think someone else should be given the crown?

Shakira — Billboard.com reports that November 2 will see the release of Shakira’s all-Spanish set, Sale El Sol.

This album reportedly includes collaborations with Calle 13 and Pitbull, among others. The album will possibly also contain production from Lester Mendez, Jim Jonsin and The Neptunes.

I thought they announced it was going to be a bilingual album?

David Archuleta — David Archuleta has released the music video for his new single “Something ‘Bout Love”.

This song is off his album “The Other Side of Down”, hitting stores this fall.

Eminem — Eminem will premiere his “Love The Way You Lie” video featuring Rihanna tomorrow (August 5) @ 9PM ET/PT.

The Joseph Kahn-directed video features Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan playing a couple going through the extremes of an abusive relationship.

“Joseph and I worked pretty closely together to make sure we got this right,” commented Eminem. “Trying to make this tough subject work visually is a challenge. It was great to have Rihanna, Megan and Dominic on board for this … .they really brought it and made this video super-powerful.”

Megan donated her fee for her video appearance to Sojourn House, a shelter that provides abused women and their children a safe space to regroup, rebuild, and reestablish their self-esteem and lives. Way to go, Megan!

Twist & Shout — A very fun and exciting experience of mine was shown last night at ABS-CBN’s singing game show, Twist And Shout.

It’s been more than a year since I had my shot to sing on National TV, and it was a serious singing contest, wherein I lost during the first elimination.

But this time, I tried something else. Singing on TV, with distractions, ABS-CBN’s Twist & Shout! Yipee!

For those who aren’t aware of the show:

A musical game show with a twist, Twist and Shout is about to bring the Kapamilya viewers maximum entertainment as two competing teams will try their best to finish a two-minute song while doing various stunts.

August 1, 2010 is the day! Our episode, together with my team mates Rubi Rubi and Kiray, was shown! I was a bit nervous because even before my singing competition days at television, I’m not aware of how will I sound on TV. Like everybody singing on air says, it’s different hearing our voice live and on the television… Yeah. So.. I.. was.. scared. (Lol)

It’s almost 9:30P.M. and the show’s about to start right after Sharon… and here we go! The first few segments of the show came up:

After the first performance, the score was 2-1 in favor of Blue Team. And then it was my turn to sing and get distracted. What kind? Thai Massage! Haha! Hey I was thinking if that actually was a distraction because was back days ago, I was inviting my friends to go to spa after a tough workout… blessing in disguise maybe? Lol.

I was totally unaware of how will my song sound like on TV. But of course I was aware of the results. My blue team round 2 competitor, Franco Peralta, sang ‘Noypi’, and I felt a bit scared because he had a lot of energy and he sang the song very well. Until the judges made their verdict… I got all the points! Woohoo!

And then the final round has commenced:

Yeah we lost in the round, but I knew Kiray really tried his best to sang really well. I can’t imagine singing on a very fast treadmill (although I actually had a practice, but not that fast! )

And so here goes the BLUE TEAM’s Jackpot Round:

Congratulations to the Blue Team for winning the August 1, 2010 episode of Twist & Round with a total of 42,000 cash prize! Of course I had so much fun during the game.
